Sean Welsh is a Baltimore-based writer and broadcaster. A proud alum of Towson University, Sean has been heard recently as a regular guest on FOX 1370 AM. While at Towson, he hosted a weekly sports talk show and broadcast football, hockey, basketball and baseball in various projects with the university. Before Towson, Sean spent two years at Harford Community College, where he was a member of the baseball team. He spent a summer in college as a volunteer analyst and play-by-play broadcaster for the Aberdeen IronBirds. After college, Sean began his career as a sports reporter with The Aegis in Harford County, where he covered high school sports and Kimmie Meissner's rise to Olympic fame. After seven months at The Aegis, Sean was hired to help launch The Baltimore Examiner, where he covered all Baltimore sports - from youth to high schools to colleges to professional.
During the paper's brief history, Sean won it's most high-profile editorial award for his coverage of Cal Ripken's induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. After spending three seasons covering the Orioles, Sean remains an active member of the Baseball Writer's Association of America. He also has contributed to various publications and Web sites, including USA Today, Sports Weekly, and MLB.com. After The Examiner closed in Feb. 2009, Sean was hired as an assistant baseball coach at his alma mater, Havre de Grace High School. Sean lives in Bel Air with his wife, Liz, and their one-year-old daughter. Sean is the play by play talent for Calvert Hall College High School’s Cardinals Football games and the host of the SFMSports.Net Weekly Round Up Show.
