Bayside Football Picks: Week 4

September 22, 2017

#1 North Caroline (3-0) at #3 Queen Anne’s (2-1)-7pm-The Bulldogs match or exceed the Lions in the trenches and they have David Bailey and Ja’Mion Franklin (last year Franklin was only about 40% with a knee sprain in the 19-7 loss) which are game changers. Cody Pepper seems to have made a leap at QB this year as well. Queen Anne’s is battle tested and will not just roll over but they don’t have any advantages in this game other than being at home and that won’t be enough.

This is the Overtime Live Game of the Week on 94-3 WINX-FM and sfmsports.net, Pre-Game 6:45pm, Kickoff at 7pm. Listen HERE

#2 Kent Island (3-0) at #9 Stephen Decatur (2-1)-6pm-This will definitely be a litmus test game for Decatur who has already doubled the amount of wins from last year. That said Decatur is not yet close to the tops of the Bayside. Kent Island across the board is better and with a lot more experience.

#12 Kent County (0-3) at #13 Snow Hill (0-3)-6pm-This was supposed to be a home game for Kent County but with their field re-sodding it turns into a long road game for the Trojans. Snow Hill certainly has a chance in the game as the Trojans are in a big rebuilding year. That said KC has more numbers and are 100% healthy for the first time all year. This certainly should be a competitive one and Snow Hill is showing better this year with players that have matured with experience. However the Trojans pull this one out in a 1A battle.

#6 Cambridge-SD (0-3) at #10 Colonel Richardson (1-2)-6pm-Both teams need this win especially the Vikings looking for their first win. Cambridge has played a very tough schedule to start the year so they should be very much ready for this game. The problem they face is playing without QB Tyler Harding who is out for this one after being knocked out of last week’s game against Caroline. I still think Cambridge with RB Taj Molock and some of the other skill guys have enough to win on the road. They will have to cut down on the mistakes which have hurt them the first three weeks of the year. Colonel’s loss to Wicomico showed me something, otherwise I think this game could have been really close.

#4 Parkside (2-1) vs. #7 Wicomico (2-1)-6:30pm-It’s the first game for the Salisbury Championship. Parkside star RB Nayel Oge will be out again this week. The Rams will have to lean on a combo backfield to get the job done like they did last week. Wicomico’s defense has played pretty well the last two weeks. The Rams though have as much skill and speed, more numbers and experience and get it done in what is a home game for both.

#11 Washington (1-2) at Laurel, DE (1-1) (Delaware’s Henlopen Conference)-7pm-A battle of Bayside and Henlopen bragging rights on the line in this one. Laurel while having played one less game is looking to bounce back from a 2016 season where they lost a lot of close games. They have a fairly youngish roster but have played a solid schedule so far and will win by a wide margin. Chalk this game up for Washington as getting themselves battle tested for the rest of their conference schedule.

Saturday Game:
#5 Easton (1-2) at #8 JM Bennett (2-1)-12pm- JM Bennett had a scoring fest against a not so very good defense in Nandua last week but have yet to play well against a good defense. They do have an experience advantage at QB and RB in this one. For Easton, even without QB Mason Ledford RB Connor Butler and WR Ryan Farr for another week I think the Warriors still have enough on offense with a little more experience now under the belt of Freshman QB Jarin Winters to pull this out. The difference in the game though will be the Easton defense who has certainly afforded themselves nicely all year so far.

Last Week’s Picks: 7-1

Season: 17-5
