#13 Snow Hill at #10 Colonel Richardson-6pm-The Colonels return more talent from last year’s squad that has experienced success than Snow Hill who lost some key players. Both teams had tough Week 1 matchups. If the Colonels don’t turnover the ball they should win at home in what could be a closer game than people expect.
#9 Stephen Decatur at #6 Wicomico-6:30pm-This is a big game for the Indians after a disappointing Week 1 against North Caroline. The offense will need to put up some points and the defense reverts back to last year where they were fairly solid. Decatur has some solid running backs and it seems decent line play but they have a lot to prove after 3 straight disappointing seasons. This ought to be a close one and the Indians will need their speed and athleticism to shine tonight but I will buy the hype for one more week before I jump off the Indians bandwagon.
#12 Washington at #11 Kent County-630pm-Both teams are in rebuilding mode and this is really a toss up. Both teams faced quality opponents at home last week. I will lean Jags with Keon Nutter.
#5 Easton at #3 Queen Anne’s-7pm-Contrasting offensive styles in Centreville with Queen Anne’s double wing against Easton’s spread. Experience did not win out last week for the Lions last but it should this week at home. The Lions defense though will need to get it together after clearly struggling at least for a half last week against Cambridge. This ought to be another close game and Queen Anne’s needs to grind it out and keep Easton’s offense off the field. They need to pressure the Warriors new sophomore QB. This is the Overtime Live Friday Night Lights ‘Game of the Week’ on 94-3 WINX-FM and sfmsports.net
#5 JM Bennett at #2 Kent Island-7pm-The Bucs should win the line of scrimmage especially on offense and be able to grind it out and against the Clippers defense and keep the Clippers offense off the field. It’s a great litmus test game for both programs especially Bennett. Kent Island has the chance to pick up 3A points early in the season.
#3 Cambridge-SD at Woodbridge, Bridgeville, DE (Henlopen Conference)-7pm-Kudos to the Vikings for scheduling this tough non-conference opponent. Cambridge has a lot of speed and is coming off a big win at home but they will face a loaded Blue Raiders squad who plays in a better overall conference and a won a state title with some of these players a few years ago. This will also be a great litmus test game for the Vikings.
#1 North Caroline at #8 Parkside-12pm-Here is another chance for the South to get a big win or play a close 4 quarter game against the North. Parkside does return a fair amount of talent from last year but they also lost some key players. They played really well last week but it was against Kent County. North Caroline faced better competition against Wicomico but handled them easily. I still think Caroline has more talent and is simply more consistent and solid in all three phases of the game. It will be interesting to see how Parkside’s defensive line does against the Caroline offensive line.
Last Week’s Picks: 6-1
