Week 3 Bayside Conference Picks

Thursday Games Moved Due to the Weather
#7 Wicomico (1-1) at #10 Colonel Richardson (1-1)-6pm-The Indians have more talent, are more experienced and are coming off a nice win against 3A Stephen Decatur. They should pick up the win despite being on the road.
#5 Easton (1-1) hosting #8 Parkside (1-1)-6:30pm-If the weather is a factor that does change a lot and gives the advantage to Parkside. Easton is undersized in this game, but they have a balanced offense including a real good passing game. Assuming weather is a minimal factor I’ll give the edge to the Warriors at home but the defense needs to step their game up and tackle better. The offense would be wise to employ the running game enough to rest the defense and keep them off the field. If the weather is wet and windy, Parkside has the advantage and likely wins. The game is the ‘Overtime Live’ Friday Night Lights game of the week on 94-3 WINX-FM and sfmsports.net…Pre-Game 6:15pm and Kick-off at 6:30pm . Listen HERE
#12 Washington (0-2) at #9 Stephen Decatur (1-1)-6pm-Just because a 3A plays a 1A does not automatically mean the 3A wins but in this case the Seahawks while lacking depth have pretty good size in the trenches and two very good running backs. Don’t expect much passing in this one. The Seahawks should win at home comfortably. Again, though the weather could play a factor and if it does Washington will need to be opportunistic on defense and look to score on that side of the ball.
#3 Cambridge-SD (1-1) at #1 North Caroline (2-0)-630pm-The Bulldogs are off to a good start and should win the battle in the trenches in this one. They may be playing their third straight game in the rain and wind which they are now accustomed to and that helps. (That’s not to say they have not had some fumbles in the bad weather, they have). Cambridge is fast but the weather might take that advantage away. Caroline has enough speed to negate some of Cambridge’s and has as much if not more talent. The Vikings did play a very good non-conference team in Woodbridge last week along with Queen Anne’s the week before, so they are very battled tested.
#2 Kent Island (2-0) at #11 Kent County (1-1)-630pm-The Bucs despite low numbers have a lot more talent especially in the trenches and should be able to win comfortably against a 1A Trojan team that is rebuilding under a new Head Coach.
#3 Queen Anne’s (1-1) at Sussex Central (0-1)-7pm-The Lions came back and got a big win against Easton last week. That said their defense has struggled the last two weeks and needs to show some signs of improvement. Offensively they have done well running the ball but seem to have no passing game even with returning So. QB SyRus McGowan. Central has had a long history of success over the last 20 years in a better Henlopen Conference. The Lions will face a Wing T offense which they are more suited to stop than Easton’s spread pass attack last week. That said Central is loaded at RB with a ton of depth, they also have that depth in the secondary. The Lions have a chance to be successful in the run game but will need to be successful with some play action and drop back to keep the defense honest. Central at home though should be too much for the Lions who are lacking in speed.
#13 Snow Hill (0-2) at Arcadia, VA (1-2)-7pm-I don’t know much about Arcadia, but they are playing at home, capable of scoring a fair amount of points, have played one more game than the Eagles and have a win. The weather again could be a factor, but I will go with the home team.
Nandua, VA (1-2) at #6 JM Bennett (1-1)-12pm-The Clippers have a lot of talent on offense and special teams. They are coming off a pretty good showing on the road at Kent Island despite the loss. Bennett whose playing at home should win comfortably.
Last Week’s Picks: 6-1
