Bayside Power Poll: After Week 3

September 19, 2018

2018 BAYSIDE CONFERENCE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL POWER POLL AFTER WEEK 3

Explaining the Poll:
*This was an awfully tough poll to put together this week, in fact it might have been the toughest poll that I have had to do since I have started doing this which is a great thing because it shows how wide open a fair amount of the Bayside Conference is in 2018. This is the first time I have a had a South team ranked as high as #3 in my memory and I think since I began doing these polls.
Parkside has played a better schedule than Bennett, but I am giving Bennett a slight advantage over Parkside however you could make an argument concerning Parkside with their schedule and better defense. Remember I don’t rank these teams just based on record even if it looks like that sometimes. Case in point while Wicomico has won two in a row and has looked good the last two weeks, Cambridge and Queen Anne’s have played each other and tough Henlopen Conference teams in Woodbridge and Sussex Central. The Vikings have also played North Caroline on the road. They have played a much tougher schedule. Although right now I think Wicomico might be able to beat at least one of those two teams if not both on their best day. The Indians have played well, this week will be a big tale tell. They may very well be better than #8, however the teams ahead of them have played a slightly better schedule. While the Indians against 3A Decatur is solid, Decatur has defeated Washington and Arcadia, it really has not told us much about the Seahawks.

Easton is 7 points away from 3-0 and I think they matchup very well against Bennett this week. Easton, I feel can beat any of the teams, 3-5 above them on any given day but because of the losses I must drop them. I do not think there is much difference between 3-8 outside of style.

1...North Caroline (3-0)-The Bulldogs on a very short week (playing on a Wednesday) downed Cambridge at home 45-6. RB Will Manship had a pair of TDs in the win as Caroline ran for 356 yards.

Next Game: Friday vs. Queen Anne’s-630pm

2...Kent Island (3-0)-The Bucs held on to defeat Kent County on the road 7-0. A late interception by the Bucs defense at the end sealed the win.

Next Game: Friday vs. Stephen Decatur-7pm

3…JM Bennett (2-1)-The Clippers played a Monday game against Nandua (VA) because Eastern Shore of VA schools were closed last week in anticipation of the effects of Hurricane Florence. The Clippers won handily 59-14. RB Saquan Cotton ran for over 200 yards and 7 TDs.

Next Game: Friday at Easton-6:30pm

4...Parkside (2-1)-The Rams had a big win on the road at Easton 15-14. Down 14-0 the Rams scored 15 unanswered points. Parkside decided to go for 2 down after pulling within 1 at 14-13 on a RB Marcus Yarns TD. Yarns also scored the two-point conversion. Yarns ran for 155 yards in the win. RB Devian White had the Rams first TD.

Next Game: Friday at Wicomico-630pm

T5...Cambridge-SD (1-2)-The Vikings fell on the road to North Caroline on a short week 45-6.

7...Easton (1-2)-The Warriors fell at home to Parkside on Thursday night 15-14. The Warriors got out to a 14-0 lead on two QB Ryan O’Connor TD passes. The Warriors failed on a fake FG attempt that would have put them up 17-0. Easton has lost the last two games by a combined 7 points.

Next Game: Friday vs. JM Bennett-6:30pm

8...Wicomico (2-1)-The Indians defeated Colonel Richardson on the road 38-10 with Ronnie Satchell scoring a TD both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. RB Cameron Kodua was also a part of the scoring. The Indians reeled off 30 straight points after trailing 10-8 at the end of the first quarter.
