Bayside Picks: Week 4

September 21, 2018

#13 Snow Hill (0-3) at #11 Kent County (1-2)-6pm-The Trojans played Kent Island awfully tough last week and already have a win, Snow Hill does not. Kent has played two of the toughest teams in the conference and is battled tested. The Trojans at home should win.

#5 Queen Anne’s (1-2) at #1 North Caroline (3-0)-6:30pm-While Queen Anne’s should be able to give a good game in the trenches and is battle tested, I think Caroline’s speed advantage and better defense will be the difference. This is the Overtime Live Friday Night Lights ‘Game of the Week’ on 94-3 WINX-FM and sfmsports.net. LISTEN HERE

#3 JM Bennett (2-1) at #7 Easton (1-2)-6:30pm-Both teams are capable of scoring a lot of points and both teams have issues at times on defense. Bennett has the special team’s advantage. Easton has played a tougher schedule and is very capable of winning tonight’s game especially at home but until their defense has to step up and they have to cut down on penalties. I will give the slight advantage to the Clippers who may have a little bit more speed and athleticism.

#10 Colonel Richardson (1-2) at #5 Cambridge-SD (1-2)-6:30pm-A big 1A East battle here as both teams early on are well in the thick of the playoff race in the 1A East. The Vikings have had a brutal schedule and are very battle tested. The Vikings have more speed and athleticism, playing at home and hungry for a win after their Week 1 upset of Queen Anne’s. Colonel can likely play with Cambridge for a half, if they keep mistakes and turnovers to a minimum. Ultimately Cambridge will pull away sooner or later.

#4 Parkside (2-1) at #8 Wicomico (2-1)-In the battle of Salisbury a big 2A East matchup between the Rams and Indians. Parkside has played a little tougher schedule than the Indians. The Rams defense is improved this year at least so far but this will be a tough test. The Indians have a more balanced offense but will get challenged in the trenches. The fact they play the Triple Options should help Parkside who is more adept at stopping the run. I do worry about the Rams passing game and special teams. The Rams should have enough speed to keep with the Indians though. This is a big litmus test game more so for Wicomico but I will lean Rams here.

Laurel (Delaware’s Henlopen Conference) (1-1) at #12 Washington (0-3)-630pm-Washington’s RB Keonte Nutter will not play in the game which is a big blow and Laurel while young has talent and is coming off a tough two point loss to St. Elizabeth last week. The Bulldogs should win handily.

#9 Stephen Decatur (2-1) at #2 Kent Island (3-0)-7pm-The Bucs will be fired up after a lacklustre performance at Kent County last week even though they came out with the win. Kent Island may not be as dominant as in the past but they ought to be able to eventually win the battle of attrition. Decatur’s two win came against weak opponents. The Seahawks also lack depth. RBs London Drummond and Devin Waters will be a challenge for the Bucs defense. Kent Island has a more balanced offense.

Last Week’s Picks: 6-1
Season Record: 17-3
