#1 North Caroline (4-0) at #9 Stephen Decatur (2-2)-6pm-The Bulldogs can match Decatur in the trenches, has an equal if not better running game and some quality wins. Decatur has yet to achieve a win against a quality tier team and has not been able to score much at all against the better teams they have played on the schedule.
Arcadia (VA) at #10 Colonel Richardson (1-3)-6pm-The Colonels could just as well be 3-1 but self-inflicted wounds have cost them in the last few games. They need to win out before facing North Caroline to make the playoffs and it begins Friday. This year’s team is not as good as last year, and Arcadia has 3 wins coming in, that said I will go with the Colonels to eek it out at home.
#2 Kent Island (4-0) at #4 Parkside (3-1)-6:30pm-This is a matchup of two similar teams who run Pro-Style run oriented offenses and have good size on both lines. The Bucs are not as good as previous years as they have a new backfield including a Freshman QB. That said they are still undefeated and got a good test from Bennett a few weeks ago. The Rams can pound the rock inside as well as go outside with speed. This will be the biggest Rams test so far. In times past in games like this the Rams defense has had issues and they have had special teams’ issues. The defense seems better this year and they are better equipped to stop a run team than a pass team. As I have said in times past until a South team can beat a North team I have to lean with the Bucs. It seems though the difference in the talent gap this year has narrowed. This may be the best chance the Rams have had to win this one including last year. This is our ‘Overtime Live Preston Ford Game of the Week’ on 94-3 WINX-FM and sfmsports.net. Listen HERE
#6 Queen Anne’s (1-3) at #10 Kent County (2-2)-6:30pm-The Lions are having a rough year and face a Kent County team on the uptick. This game could be a lot closer then we thought earlier this year if the Trojans play defense the way they did against Kent Island. Kent County has struggled though in scoring points against quality teams. I expect to see the Lions to start to show some improvement.
Southern-AA (0-4) at #7 Easton (1-3)-6:30pm-Easton has come off three straight difficult losses including last week blowing a 28-point lead and losing by 26. Who knows how the Warriors will respond with their playoff chances dashed. Southern comes in winless and is giving up over 20 points a game. I will lean Warriors in this one, but it could be that last week’s loss will have a lasting effect on the rest of the season.
#8 Wicomico (2-2) at #12 Washington (0-4)-6:30pm-The Indians have played a tough schedule and are coming off a loss to rival Parkside. Wicomico’s offense continues to be inconsistent. However, they should be able to put up enough points and have more talent than the Jags who have also struggled mightily on offense as well. The Jags are also still looking for their first win.
#5 Cambridge-SD (2-2) at Nandua, VA (2-3)-7pm-The Vikings are coming off a big 1A win over Colonel last week. Cambridge is very battled tested and capable of defeating Nandua even though it’s on the road especially if it’s a shootout. Nandua is averaging over 20 points a game but they are also giving up 40 points a game.
#13 Snow Hill (0-4) at #3 JM Bennett (3-1)-12pm-The Clippers are the far superior team and are off to good start. The Eagles haven’t scored yet this year.
Last Week’s Picks: 7-0
Season Record: 24-3
