Bayside Picks: Week 6, powered by McDonalds

October 4, 2018

#3 Kent Island at #8 Wicomico-6:30pm-This is no gimme game for the Buccaneers on a short week. With injuries and lack of depth along with extreme youth in the backfield, it may be ugly, but I like the Bucs to bounce back from a tough loss last week. Wicomico just has not shown the ability to be consistent on offense and win against the better teams. I could see the Indians making this a four quarter game if they are at their best.

#6 Queen Anne’s (2-3) at #9 Stephen Decatur (2-3)-6pm-The Lions have had their issues this year but they have played a tougher schedule and still have more of an all around better team. That is not to say Decatur could not make it a game, they could especially being at home but I have to see it to believe, I go with the Lions.

Nandua, VA at #13 Snow Hill-6pm-Until the Eagles can show they can score with against a first team defense and play some defense; I have to go with the visitors.

#7 Easton (2-3) at #1 North Caroline (5-0)-6:30pm-The Bulldogs have a better team in the trenches and that will be the difference. We have seen the Easton defense get worn down in previous losses in many second halves. The Warriors certainly have the skill guys and may very well make plays against a defense that has not seen this kind of passing attack yet. I just don’t see the Bulldogs offense being shutdown and I worry about Easton passing protecting well enough for O’Connor against the NC defense. This is the Overtime Live Friday Night Lights ‘Game of the Week’ on 94-3 WINX-FM and sfmsports.net. Listen HERE

#4 JM Bennett (4-1) at #2 Parkside (4-1)-6:30pm-I have really grappled with this one as I do believe Bennett has a more balanced offense and a better special teams. That all said Parkside has the overall advantages in the trenches and a wide array of RBs to throw at Bennett. I feel that win against Kent Island gives them a big confidence boost coupled with the revenge factor from last year’s heart breaking 46-43 loss.

#10 Colonel Richardson (2-3) at #11 Kent County (2-3)-6:30pm-A big 1A battle as this is a must win for both teams. Despite some key graduations the Colonels have really played well this year. That said mistakes early in some games have hurt as they could be 4-1 right now coming into the game. Kent County is clearly better than we thought but I see the Colonels having a better ability to score points in this one. They also are used to playing in big games especially in the last year which included a trip to the playoffs.

#12 Washington (0-5) at #5 Cambridge-SD (3-2)-The Vikings are at home but more importantly have better talent, more of it and 3 more wins to their name than the Jags who are having another tough year.

Last Week’s Picks: 6-1
Season Record: 30-3
