Numbers OTL Power Poll then Playoff Seeding
#3 Perryville at #1/2 Cambridge-SD (7-3)-7pm-Its tough to do comparisons when you have not seen the other team in person. Based on what I have concluded from my research though is the Vikings ought to be able to put a fair amount of points on the board. Speed kills and Cambridge has that and home field advantage. This one has the makings of a shootout, but the rain could prevent that. I like the Vikings odds.
#9/4 Colonel Richardson (5-5) at #1 seed Havre De Grace (8-2)-7pm-While the Colonels have done well in getting their program to respectability, winning and now playoffs for the second straight year the task will be difficult. The Warriors are a very good program with more depth having played a better schedule and they are playing at home. The one thing Colonel does have to lean on is the experience factor from last year, but Havre De Grace should win solidly.
#3/4 Parkside (8-2) at #1/1 North Caroline (10-0)-7pm-This will be another old fashion power versus power brawl with a little speed and athleticism mixed into one. Caroline has a lot going for them---Experience and home field advantage. This game comes down to which defense plays better and when called upon which QB plays better when called upon in the passing game which won’t be much. The weather conditions are not going to be ideal with a lot of rain the forecast, much the same way it was for the first meeting between the two. Caroline won that won 20-0. At home I trust Caroline’s defense more than I do Parkside’s and the experience is big in a game like this as well. Parkside is a better team than they were early in the season, but I have to go Bulldogs in this one.
#4 Long Reach-Howard County (7-3) at #2/1 JM Bennett (8-2)-7pm-Bennett is having a special year and have exceeded expectations. They have speed, athleticism and can score multiple ways. They get this game at home as well which is big. Long Reach’s numbers look good, but you have to do some digging. Only one of their wins came against a winning team. Their three losses though came against very tough opponents, tougher than what Bennett has faced. The three teams combined for a record of 26-4. Long Reach is absolutely battled tested. As much as I would like to go Clippers and as I much as I am rooting for them, I need to see them do it against a Western Shore team that faced better competition and likely can match the Clippers speed and athleticism.
Last Week’s Record: 6-1
