December 12--Old Mill; Holley Dominate
The Old Mill Patriots (2-1) Boy's Basketball team beat the Meade Mustangs (0-3) 74-47 in Millersville Friday night. Lead by SFMSports.net Game VIP, Mike Holley, the Patriots rolled out of the gate going up 11-2 at one point in the early part of the first period. Holley, who says he is a fan of NBA player Bruce Bowen, dominated the court pulling a trifecta with 3 steals, 3 assists, and 3 points in the 1st quarter.
Seniors Marquel and Mani Salmond and Junior Joe McCargo also contributed on both offense and defense. Chris Shaw threw down two massive slam dunks and Eric Savage hit multiple pull up jumpers after coming out of his break on the screen.
For the Mustangs, Marcus Snipes hit two three pointers from the NBA line and TJ Fondren was a force down under the basket in the paint. Despite the lop-sided score, Meade played fast and physical. The Mustangs were unable to drive underneath and had to settle for a lot of distance shots.
This Old Mill team plays hard for the entire game with most starters staying in the game. Coach Greg Smith has a lot of confidence in his guys and for the right reasons. This team came out, after losing early in the week, and handed it to their county rivals. The Patriots travel to Pasadena to take on Northeast High School December 18th. The Mustangs have two out of county teams in the coming week prior to hosting Glen Burnie December 18th.
