February 20-The Hawks whip the Kent County Trojans 69-54

The Hawks in a balanced attack, both offensively, and defensively dominated Kent County on Saturday at the Seahawk Field House in Berlin.  Tre Johnson and Cedrick Johnson had 13 points a piece, and Mark Engle had 17 points to be named the Dominos Pizza MVP.  Kent County was lead by Senior Jionar Robinson with 18 points. The Trojans had some issues with fouls and were called for 2 technicals.  The Hawks dominated the game from beginning to end, and are the number 1 team in the States 3A Division, and will have home court throughout the playoffs until the final four at College Park, should the team accomplish that.

 
The Seahawks play Monday at home in a make up game against Mardela, and the final game away at Wi-Hi.

NOTES:  Special get well wishes to Dave Insley of the Star Democrat, Dave attended the game with his son, and in a wheelchair, Dave was the victim of the ice.  Also, in attendence, several scouts and coaches checking the Hawks out.  Decataur Trainer Karen Costanza, a big thanks from Rick Charles, Charles while moving a chord, lacerated his head, was patched up prior to gametime. Charles suffered a mild concussion, and will return to his play by play duties on Tuesday.  The next Seahawk mens hoops will be early next week for the second round of the states (they have a first round bye), will be heard Saturday, February 27 at 2pm.  It be Senior Night for the Lady Seahawks in their last regular home game.

 
January 22-The Hawks remain unbeaten

The Stephen Decataur Seahawks Varisity Mens team, continued their unbeaten streak at home with a resounding 63-54 win over visiting James Bennett. Cedric Johnson led all scorers with 17 points, with a strong second from Tre Foreman with 14, and center Tom Lobesky contributed a strong presence under the boards nailing 9 points.  The Seahawks maintained strong anti-foul  game, and played strong defense.
    
The Hawks will hit the road against Parkside Friday, and come home to Berlin late next week against the Washington Jaguars, and the showdown with Pokomoke on Feb. 4th, which will be covered live on sfmsports.net.
 
January 21-The Kee to success

Itseems Stephen Decatur has finally exhausted their stock of Tates.  First, there was Ben Tate, Sr., who starred back in the '80s. Then there was his son, Ben Tate, Jr., who suited up for the Seahawks in the early 2000s. The younger Tate went on to set Maryland state records and is currently the lead 'back at Auburn. Read More

The Stephen Decataur Mens Basketball Program got off to a resounding win over the Wi Hi Indians 45-38. The win allows the Seahawks to remain unbeaten at the Decataur Field House. 
The Hawks Tom Lobeskie was a dominant force under the boards with
aggression and has improved dramatically in his confidence to turn rebounds into points. Cedric Johnson again the field general, passed to teammates and scored including coming off the bench the Dominos Pizza MVP Deon Powell scored 12 points. The score was tied at the end of the first quarter, 18-17 Hawks at the half.

Indians were within 4 but 2 consecutive steals and layups by the Seahawks did them in. Wi Hi prior upset the unbeaten Pocomoke, this sets up a showdown February 4th at Decataur when Pocomoke comes in, the winner should be Bayside Conference South Winner.

The Seahawks return to action this Tuesday on sfmsports.netr, the game to be broadcast 2pm this Saturday, January 23rd against James Bennett, the Seahawks beat them in a close game in early December.

The Lady Seahawks went into the Christmas break with a resounding win at home against the Crisfield Crabbers. The Crabbers are rebuilding and trying valiantly to come together. Unfortunately, not during this game, scoring only 10 points in the first half. The Lady Seahawks, led by Senior Virginia Harris, was the Dominos Pizza VIP of the Game. Coach Ron Knerr was very satisfied with the Seahawks' efforts landing them at 3-3 at the break. The Hawks are looking forward to their next challenge.
 
In other Seahawks news, going into the Christmas break, the Men Hawks lead with a 6-0 record, 5-0 in the Bayside Conference.

In front of a standing room only crowd at Seahawk Auditorium, the home standing Seahawks (4-0) clipped the Snow Hill Eagles (2-2) 57-50. Both teams were neck in neck tied at 12-12 at the end of the first quarter and 20-20 at the half. The Hawks broke loose at the end of the third quarter with Montrae Andrews putting in 8 points in the third, putting the Hawks up 40-37. In the fourth, the Hawks dominated fined up 57-50. 
 
Senior Cedric Johnson, the 'court general,' led with keen passing and feeding Andrews with 14 and Tre Foreman with 15, while Johnson tipped in 11. Defensively, Tom Lobeski, the 6'10'' giant blocked key shots by the Eagles.
 
The Seahawks win round 1 this week, as they meet the Eagles again later this season. The Hawks are on the road Thursday (12/17) at Washington and finish the year against Crisfield next Tuesday.

Stephen Decatur Men Seahawks are 1-0 and host the Parkside Rams Thursday. The Hawks come into the season as a much improved team under Coach Travis Lloyd, with returning Forward Tre Johnson, 6'10'' Senior Tom Lubeski and former Snow Hill and St. John (Frederick) transfer Cedrick Johnson. Johnson lead Snow Hill to an undefeated season and title two years ago. Johnson is expected to lead as point guard.
 
Other notables include Forward Montre Andrews, a transfer from Indian River, Junior Forward Dre Smith, coming from Snow Hill. Senior Mark Engle was the Starting Guard for Delmarva Christian. Engle's father, Mark Senior joins Coach Lloyd's coaching staff.
 
For Parkside, expect to see some solid action from Paul Butler, Jr, the son of former WBOC-TV's Paul Butler.
 
Tip off from Berlin is set for 5:30pm. Hear the game re-broadcast Saturday, December 12 on SFMSports.Net and locally on Talk Radio 101.1 FM WQMR.
