February 19---The Rams top the Titans in regular season finale
by Graham Whaples (graham.whaples@sfmsports.net)
The Randallstown Rams defeated the New Town Titans 57-46 Friday night. The game got off to a bizzare start when Randallstown was called for a technical foul before the opening tip-off. Senior Rickie Mitchell was called for dunking and hanging on to the rim in the pre-game warm-ups, giving New Town two free throws and possesion.
The Titans quickly jumped out to a 4-0 lead after a very sluggish start for the Rams. Both teams struggled early in the game with turnovers, fouls, and missed free throws.
The feeling and intensity of the game turned after a very physical blocked shot by Mitchell. New Town coach, Mike Salapata, unsuccessfully lobbied for a foul call. Salapata grew furious moments later when captain, Macoy Jones, was called on a similar type of physical play. The dispute ended with the ref's calling a technical foul on the New Town bench.
SFMSports.net Game Co-VIP's; Maliik Small and Chaz Sharp struggled to hit shots in the first half but came out determined in the second.
"This is our rivalry game. We definetly wanted to finish the regular season with a win (and) get ready for counties." said Sharp.
For the Rams, it was their 8th win in a row, closing out one of the best finishes in the schools recent history. Randallstown will face Milford next week for the Baltimore County Boy's Basketball Championships. More on that game will be available later this weekend at;http://www.sfmsports.net/.

Jones, Ripken lead Gilman past Curley in OT
by Graham Whaples (graham.whaples@sfmsports.net
The Gilman Greyhounds defeated the Archbishop Curley Friars in overtime Friday night. Both teams battled to maintain a lead throughout the majority of the game. The Friars looked like they were going to walk away with the win after Gilman Sophmore Cyrus Jones picked up a technical foul in the final minutes of regulation.
The Friars drained both free throws and were looking to run the clock out but the inbound pass was stolen in mid-air by Greyhound forward, Ryan Ripken. The sophmore dished the ball to a teammate as he was falling down and Gilman was able to even the score and send it to overtime.
It was all Gilman in overtime as they broke away from the Friars. Jones, who played extremely well unti his technical foul, stepped up in OT forcing a turnover and playing great defense. The Friars saw outstanding play underneath from senior Stephon McCray and junior Naill Harrison. Both crashed the boards and were instrumental in containing the Greyhounds high octane scoring game. Curley freshmen Daxter Miles and Ahmaad Wilson played extremely well despite their age.
This makes 14 straight wins for Gilman dating back to December 15. The Greyhounds host Loyola January 31st. Curley takes on Severn at home February 2nd.
